Veterans Pension & Survivors Benefits & Internet Connectivity
VA Survivors Pension Program is a tax-free benefit payable to a low-income, un-remarried surviving spouse or unmarried child(ren) of a deceased Veteran with wartime service.
To be eligible for Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefits, you must meet the following criteria:
- Your net worth meets the limits set for the Community Spouse Resource Allowance (CSRA) established by Congress for Medicaid.
- The unmarried surviving spouse (or you were previously married, and the marriage ended before Nov. 1, 1990).
- An unmarried child who was under 18 years old when the Veteran died, or who became disabled before age 18 and is still disabled.
- The Veteran met certain service requirements. For Veterans who entered active duty on or before September 7, 1980, they must have served at least 90 days on active military service, with at least 1 day during a covered wartime period. For Veterans who entered active duty after September 7, 1980, they must have served at least 24 months of active-duty service.
The amount of your Survivors Pension will depend on your income and net worth, as well as the number of dependents you have. The maximum annual pension rate for 2023 is $15,627.40
